One of the main railroads in the world is the so-called Trans-Siberian Route, which connects Russia's capital, Moscow, to Vladivostok, which is situated on the extreme southeastern coast of the country.

With a length of 9.259 km, this is the longest railroad line in the world and is currently managed by the state-owned Russian Railroads. The entire route passes through 67 stations, and the trip lasts from 6 to 7 days..

Because Russia is a very large country, building transport routes to link economic centers to other regions, such as Siberia, was a very important step. Therefore, in 1891, the Russian government signed an agreement authorizing the beginning of the construction of the Trans-Siberian. The objective was to facilitate the transport of people and goods between Moscow and the opposite coast, connecting with the Pacific Ocean. The works were completed in 1916.

Today, this railroad line is responsible for transporting about 30% of the products exported by the country and also attracts many tourists due to the length of the route.

Another route that is one of the main railroads in the world is the one that connects Moscow to the capital of China, Beijing. In fact, for this route, there are two possible paths: the Transmanchurian line and the Transmongolian line.

The Transmanchuriana is the longest route with 8,984 km, taking 6 days to reach the destination. The line uses the Trans-Siberian from Moscow to the city of Chita. From this point, the line goes southeast until it enters Chinese territory through the Russian city Zabaikalsk. Then the line travels across the country until, finally, it arrives in Beijing.

The construction of the Transmanchuriana was carried out by the Russian Empire through a concession from the Qing dynasty, and the works lasted from 1897 to 1902. Currently, the route is operated jointly by Russian Railroads and China Railroads.

The Transmongolian, as its name implies, connects the Russian capital to the Chinese capital through Mongolian territory. The distance covered is a little shorter than the Transmanchurian, totaling 7,826 km. The route takes about 131 hours and makes 33 stops.

The line departs from Moscow and diverges from the Trans-Siberian in the city of Ulan Ude. The route then crosses Mongolia, passing through several cities, including the capital, Ulaanbaatar. The Transmongolian arrives in Chinese territory through the northern border and finally arrives in Beijing.

The construction of the Transmongoliana was carried out between 1947 and 1961. Today, it is used by passenger and freight trains, mainly to transport minerals.
