Thus, with this sector existing for almost 200 years, there are several historic railways present in the Brazilian rail system. Among them we have, for example, the Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed is the former name of the Parna\u00edba-Teresina railway, which is currently abandoned. The first railway branch in Piau\u00ed, connecting Portinho to Cacimb\u00e3o, in the northern region of the state, was inaugurated only in 1916.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, the works on the Central do Piau\u00ed Railroad began in 1913. This process only started after long claims by the people of Piau\u00ed. At the time, politicians and businessmen in the region considered that the construction would be \u201cuseless\u201d, since it would compete in parallel with the Parna\u00edba River.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The railroad was inaugurated only in 1922, connecting the port of Luiz Correia to the station of Cocal. Despite this, the total work of the railroad was only completed in the 60s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The population of the region had a strong influence on the construction of the work. Due to the severe droughts and drought that ravaged the North and Northeast states at the time, the population yearned for innovations and the possibility of a \u201cnew life\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trains, which at the time were the main means of transporting cargo and people, would be an important novelty for the people, who started to travel to meet close relatives in other municipalities, or who just hopped on the trains for a ride, contemplating the landscapes. locations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drought ended up having a strong impact on the construction of the Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed. The railroad was built thanks to the work of fugitive operators from their local lands, essentially from Cear\u00e1, who left their home state in search of new job opportunities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During its time of operation, the Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed was responsible for transporting passengers and goods for flow in this region. Since then, the railroad was renamed Teresina-Parna\u00edba Railroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it was a project that already had strong resistance from the political and business class in the region, there were not many efforts to keep the line active during this period. Despite this, the works on the Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed were completed in 1969. Passenger operations ended 10 years later, in 1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effectively, the line was never eradicated. However, since that period,\u00a0 the railway has suffered from the precariousness, abandonment and even vandalization of the rails, which makes it difficult to develop a project to reuse the line. However, in certain stretches, there is an initiative to revitalize the railroad, as in the Parnaiba\/Lu\u00eds Correia stretch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This stretch, for example, is being revitalized to serve tourism, due to the initiative of local bodies. This project has been ongoing since 2019. The <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/ferrovia-transnordestina\/\">Transnordestina Railroad;<\/a> is the main example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Transnordestina Railway was designed to be the main railway network in the Northeast, passing through the states of Cear\u00e1, Pernambuco and Piau\u00ed, for example. The projection was for the construction of more than 1,700 km of railway extension. However, the road suffers from constant delays in its works, with only 600 km of works completed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are still other investment projects in railroads that connect Piau\u00ed to Pernambuco. In early 2020, the work, which aims to connect Suape, in Pernambuco, to Curral Novo, in Piau\u00ed, received approval so that the works could begin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction of the railway will be in charge of the company Planalto Piau\u00ed Participa\u00e7\u00f5es e Empreendimentos, which will be able to start a project to make the stretch viable. The idea for the development of this new railroad was presented within the Pr\u00f3 Trilhos project, benefited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/marco-legal-das-ferrovias\/\">Marco Legal das Ferrovias<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The railroad will be 717 km long, helping to transport passengers in the region and transport important goods for the economy of these states, essentially <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/dificuldades-transporte-minerio-ferro\/\">iron ore,<\/a>. The total investment for the project is around R$5.7 billion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This amount must be used not only in the construction of rails, terminals and trains, but also in the implementation of appropriate technologies, which must be added to increase the efficiency of the railways. In this regard, Massa is a pioneer, developing fundamental technologies, such as dynamic railway scales, for several national railways.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong>: Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As we have seen, the Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed was an important railway for the state of Piau\u00ed, helping to transport passengers and transport cargo in the region. However, it was one of several Brazilian railroads that suffered from precariousness and lack of investment to continue operating and, therefore, is abandoned today. A Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed \u00e9 o antigo nome da ferrovia Parna\u00edba-Teresina, que atualmente encontra-se abandonada. Ao mesmo tempo que j\u00e1 teve um impacto importante para o transporte de insumos e pessoas no Piau\u00ed, a revitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o dessa, assim como de outras ferrovias brasileiras, seriam fundamentais para a log\u00edstica do estado, que carece de transporte eficiente para o escoamento de cargas e varia\u00e7\u00e3o nos modais, priorizando o setor rodovi\u00e1rio.&nbsp; Hist\u00f3ria da Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed Diferentemente de outras regi\u00f5es brasileiras, que iniciaram o processo de implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de ferrovias ainda no s\u00e9culo XIX, as ferrovias no estado do Piau\u00ed demoraram a ser implementadas. O primeiro ramal ferrovi\u00e1rio piauiense, ligando Portinho \u00e0 Cacimb\u00e3o, na regi\u00e3o norte do Estado, foi inaugurado apenas em 1916. J\u00e1 a Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed teve suas obras iniciadas em 1913. Esse processo s\u00f3 foi iniciado ap\u00f3s longas reivindica\u00e7\u00f5es do pr\u00f3prio povo piauiense. Na \u00e9poca, pol\u00edticos e empres\u00e1rios da regi\u00e3o consideravam que a constru\u00e7\u00e3o seria \u201cinutil\u201d, visto que, concorreria paralelamente com o Rio Parna\u00edba.&nbsp; A ferrovia foi inaugurada apenas em 1922, ligando o porto de Luiz Correia \u00e0 esta\u00e7\u00e3o de Cocal. Apesar disso, a obra total da ferrovia foi conclu\u00edda apenas na d\u00e9cada de 60. A popula\u00e7\u00e3o da regi\u00e3o teve forte influ\u00eancia para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o da obra. Devido \u00e0s fortes secas e estiagem que assolavam os estados do Norte e Nordeste na \u00e9poca, a popula\u00e7\u00e3o ansiava por inova\u00e7\u00f5es e pela possibilidade de uma \u201cnova vida\u201d.&nbsp; Os trens, que na \u00e9poca eram o principal modal de transporte de cargas e pessoas, seria uma novidade importante para o povo, que passou a viajar para encontrar parentes pr\u00f3ximos, em outros munic\u00edpios, ou que apenas subia nos trens para passeio, contemplando as paisagens locais.&nbsp; A seca, inclusive, acabou tendo forte impacto na constru\u00e7\u00e3o da Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed. A ferrovia foi erguida gra\u00e7as ao trabalho de operadores fugitivos de suas terras locais,essencialmente do Cear\u00e1, que deixaram seu estado de origem em busca de novas oportunidades de trabalho.&nbsp; Durante seu tempo de opera\u00e7\u00e3o, a Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed era respons\u00e1vel pelo transporte de passageiros e mercadorias para escoamento nesta regi\u00e3o. Al\u00e9m disso, por ser uma novidade, as esta\u00e7\u00f5es dessa ferrovia serviam como um espa\u00e7o de encontro entre as pessoas, que compartilhavam diferentes hist\u00f3rias do cotidiano. Iniciativa de revitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia&nbsp; A Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed teve suas opera\u00e7\u00f5es encerradas em 1957, quando foi anexada a Rede Ferrovi\u00e1ria Federal S\/A (RFFSA), que passou a administrar grande parte do sistema ferrovi\u00e1rio brasileiro. Desde ent\u00e3o, a ferrovia passou a se chamar Ferrovia Teresina-Parna\u00edba. Apesar disso, as obras da Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed foram finalizadas em 1969. As opera\u00e7\u00f5es com passageiros se encerraram 10 anos depois, em 1979. De forma efetiva, a linha nunca foi erradicada. Entretanto, desde esse per\u00edodo,&nbsp; a ferrovia sofre com a precariza\u00e7\u00e3o, abandono e at\u00e9 mesmo vandaliza\u00e7\u00e3o dos trilhos, o que dificulta o desenvolvimento de um projeto para reutiliza\u00e7\u00e3o da linha. Por\u00e9m, em determinados trechos, existe uma iniciativa para revitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia, como no trecho Parnaiba\/Lu\u00eds Correia.&nbsp; Este trecho, por exemplo, est\u00e1 sendo revitalizado para servir ao turismo, devido a iniciativa de \u00f3rg\u00e3os locais. Esse projeto est\u00e1 em andamento desde 2019. A iniciativa vem, essencialmente, da Federa\u00e7\u00e3o do Com\u00e9rcio de Bens, Servi\u00e7os e Turismo do Piau\u00ed. No come\u00e7o de 2020, inclusive, chegou em Parna\u00edba um comboio de carretas com locomotivas e vag\u00f5es adquiridos no Rio de Janeiro para come\u00e7ar o trabalho na revitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia, mas as obras foram interrompidas devido a pandemia do Coronav\u00edrus.&nbsp; Projetos de ferrovias no estado do Piau\u00ed Al\u00e9m da Estrada de Ferro Central do Piau\u00ed, ou Ferrovia Teresina-Parna\u00edba, tamb\u00e9m existem outras ferrovias que passam pelo estado, que atualmente s\u00e3o mais relevantes. A Ferrovia Transnordestina \u00e9 o principal exemplo. A Ferrovia Transnordestina foi projetada para ser a principal malha ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste, passando pelos estados do Cear\u00e1, Pernambuco e no Piau\u00ed, por exemplo. A proje\u00e7\u00e3o era da constru\u00e7\u00e3o de mais de 1.700 km de extens\u00e3o ferrovi\u00e1ria. Entretanto, a estrada sofre com constantes atrasos em suas obras, tendo apenas 600km de obras conclu\u00eddas.&nbsp; Ainda existem outros projetos de investimentos em ferrovias que liguem o Piau\u00ed \u00e0 Pernambuco. No in\u00edcio de 2020, a obra, que tem como objetivo ligar Suape, no Pernambuco, \u00e0 Curral Novo, do Piau\u00ed, recebeu aprova\u00e7\u00e3o para que as obras pudessem ser iniciadas.&nbsp; A constru\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia ficar\u00e1 a cargo da empresa Planalto Piau\u00ed Participa\u00e7\u00f5es e Empreendimentos, que poder\u00e1 iniciar um projeto para viabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o do trecho.&nbsp; A ideia para o desenvolvimento dessa nova ferrovia foi apresentada dentro do projeto Pr\u00f3 Trilhos, beneficiado pelo Marco Legal das Ferrovias.&nbsp; A ferrovia ter\u00e1 717 km de extens\u00e3o, auxiliando no transporte de passageiros na regi\u00e3o e no escoamento de mercadorias importantes para a economia desses estados, essencialmente o min\u00e9rio de ferro. O investimento total para o projeto est\u00e1 na casa dos R$5,7 bilh\u00f5es.&nbsp; Esse montante deve ser utilizado n\u00e3o somente na constru\u00e7\u00e3o dos trilhos, terminais e trens, mas tamb\u00e9m na implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias apropriadas, que devem ser adicionadas para aumentar a efici\u00eancia das linhas f\u00e9rreas.
