In 2021 alone, this sector was responsible for about 28% of national production. Among the main products distributed are soybeans, <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/transporte-de-milho-no-brasil\/\">corn<\/a>, coffee, beans and beef. One of the factors that allows the high productivity and quality of these products is the use of agricultural inputs, such as fertilizers. Despite the growing demand, the current production of fertilizers in Brazil is not enough to meet the needs of the country's agribusiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, most of these inputs must be imported from other countries, such as Russia, Canada and <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/ferrovias-chinesas\/\">China<\/a>, for example. To better understand Brazilian fertilizer production, how it affects agribusiness and the role of railroads in this process, we prepared this article. Among the most important nutrients for healthy plant development are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proper use of these products can considerably influence the cultivation of various plants, even in situations where the soil in question is not ideal. It is possible to perceive this transformation in the Cerrado, which, naturally, has a soil that is very poor in nutrients, and, even so, has become one of the largest soybean production sites in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being small, Brazilian fertilizer production exists. The fertilizer most produced in Brazil is the one made from phosphorus: about 45% of the consumption of phosphate fertilizers in the country was of national origin. Nitrogen fertilizer is also produced in the country, totaling 26% of national consumption. Since Brazilian fertilizer production is not able to supply the growing demand, the path chosen was import.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a study carried out by the Special Secretariat for Strategic Affairs, more than 80% of the fertilizers consumed in the country are imported. In the case of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium fertilizers, for example, the countries that most exported to Brazil were Russia, Canada and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason that explains the leadership of these countries in the sale of fertilizers is their large mineral reserves. Russian territory, for example, has many reserves of natural gas, which can be used to obtain nitrogen. On the other hand, Canada has the largest potash reserves in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, of the 41.58 million tons of fertilizers imported in 2021, 8 million went to Mato Grosso, making it the largest consumer in the country. This happens because the economy of the state of Mato Grosso depends a lot on its agricultural production, after all, it is the main exporter of soybeans and corn in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rio Grande do Sul is not far behind: in total, 6.6 million tons of fertilizers were imported. In this case, the main destination of the inputs is the production of the soy complex, which includes soy beans, oil and bran. In 2021, exports from the state of Rio Grande do Sul registered considerable growth, yielding US$ 15.3 billion, about 52% more than the numbers of the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paran\u00e1 was responsible for importing 5.4 million tons in the year. This can be explained by the 17% increase in exports of <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/agricultura-e-agropecuaria\/\">agricultural products<\/a> in the state, compared to the previous year. Considering that most of the fertilizers used in Brazilian agribusiness are of international origin, it is very important that the Brazilian rail network be developed in such a way that it connects the country's producing areas to the port areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the main ports of entry for fertilizers in the country are the ports of Paranagu\u00e1 (PR), Rio Grande (RS) and Santos (SP). In 2018, they were responsible for 64% of product imports, which totals more than 16 million tons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After entering Brazilian territory, fertilizers and manures must be transported to the regions with the highest agricultural production in the country. Despite road transport being the most used modal in Brazil, recent investments in new railwroads suggest an <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/transporte-de-cargas-no-brasil\/\">imminent change in this scenario<\/a> and can greatly optimize the flow of products and fertilizers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, in early 2022, the construction of a new railroad section in the state of Mato Grosso was approved. Connecting the municipalities of \u00c1gua Boa and Lucas do Rio Verde, the new 557 km extension promises to considerably speed up the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/desafios-logisticos-no-brasil\/\">logistical processes<\/a> of fertilizer distribution, positively affecting the production of soy, corn and local characteristics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another recent project that has greatly contributed to the distribution of fertilizers is the new loading structure implemented by the logistics company VLI. This new system allows the raw materials unloaded at the Port of Santos to be transported entirely by rail to the terminal in Uberaba (MG). This measure will benefit the cultivation of products characteristic of the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/estacoes-ferroviarias-de-minas-gerais\/\">Tri\u00e2ngulo Mineiro<\/a>, such as sugar cane, coffee, soybeans and oranges.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion: fertilizer production<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It was possible to perceive that agricultural inputs play a very important role in Brazilian agribusiness, which is in increasing expansion. Para entender melhor a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira, como ela afeta o agroneg\u00f3cio e qual a fun\u00e7\u00e3o das ferrovias nesse processo, preparamos este artigo. Confira:&nbsp; Produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira O fertilizante pode ser definido como qualquer subst\u00e2ncia mineral ou org\u00e2nica, natural ou sint\u00e9tica que \u00e9 capaz de fornecer nutrientes vegetais. Entre os nutrientes mais importantes para o desenvolvimento saud\u00e1vel de plantas est\u00e3o o nitrog\u00eanio, f\u00f3sforo, pot\u00e1ssio, c\u00e1lcio, magn\u00e9sio, etc. O uso adequado destes produtos pode influenciar consideravelmente no cultivo de diversas plantas, mesmo em situa\u00e7\u00f5es em que o solo em quest\u00e3o n\u00e3o \u00e9 ideal. \u00c9 poss\u00edvel perceber essa transforma\u00e7\u00e3o no Cerrado, que, naturalmente, possui um solo muito pobre em nutrientes, e, mesmo assim, passou a ser um dos locais de maior produ\u00e7\u00e3o de soja do pa\u00eds. Apesar de ser pequena, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira existe. O fertilizante mais produzido no Brasil \u00e9 aquele feito \u00e0 base de f\u00f3sforo: cerca de 45% do consumo de fertilizantes fosfatados no pa\u00eds teve origem nacional. O fertilizante nitrogenado tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 produzido no pa\u00eds, totalizando 26% do consumo nacional. J\u00e1 a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de insumos pot\u00e1ssicos \u00e9 bem menor: compondo apenas 6%. Dito isso, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira \u00e9 direcionada principalmente para as regi\u00f5es de maior atua\u00e7\u00e3o do agroneg\u00f3cio do pa\u00eds, como o Mato Grosso, o Rio Grande do Sul e Paran\u00e1, por exemplo. Demanda internacional O Brasil, sendo uma pot\u00eancia agr\u00edcola, necessita de um grande volume de fertilizantes e outros insumos agr\u00edcolas para poder manter e melhorar a sua produtividade. J\u00e1 que a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira n\u00e3o \u00e9 capaz de abastecer a crescente demanda, o caminho escolhido foi o da importa\u00e7\u00e3o.&nbsp; Segundo um estudo realizado pela Secretaria Especial de Assuntos Estrat\u00e9gicos, mais de 80% dos fertilizantes consumidos no pa\u00eds s\u00e3o importados. No caso dos fertilizantes nitrogenados, fosfatados e pot\u00e1ssicos, por exemplo, os pa\u00edses que mais exportaram para o Brasil foram a R\u00fassia, o Canad\u00e1 e a China. O motivo que explica a lideran\u00e7a desses pa\u00edses na venda de fertilizantes s\u00e3o as suas grandes reservas minerais. O territ\u00f3rio russo, por exemplo, possui muitas reservas de g\u00e1s natural, que pode ser utilizado para obter o nitrog\u00eanio. Por outro lado, o Canad\u00e1 det\u00e9m a maior reserva de pot\u00e1ssio do mundo. Dito isso, das 41,58 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de fertilizantes importadas em 2021, 8 milh\u00f5es foram para o Mato Grosso, tornando-o o maior consumidor do pa\u00eds. Isso acontece, pois a economia do estado matogrossense depende muito da sua produ\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola, afinal, ele \u00e9 o principal exportador de soja e de milho do Brasil. O Rio Grande do Sul n\u00e3o fica muito atr\u00e1s: no total, foram importados 6,6 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de fertilizantes. Nesse caso, o principal destino dos insumos \u00e9 a produ\u00e7\u00e3o do complexo soja, o que inclui a soja em gr\u00e3o, o \u00f3leo e o farelo. Em 2021, as exporta\u00e7\u00f5es do estado ga\u00facho registraram um crescimento consider\u00e1vel, rendendo US$ 15,3 bilh\u00f5es, cerca de 52% a mais que os n\u00fameros do ano anterior. J\u00e1 o Paran\u00e1 foi respons\u00e1vel por importar 5,4 milh\u00f5es de toneladas no ano. Isso pode ser explicado pelo aumento de 17% da exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de produtos agropecu\u00e1rios do estado, em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao ano anterior. Entre os principais itens comercializados pelo estado est\u00e3o a soja em gr\u00e3os, a carne de frango e o a\u00e7\u00facar. Papel das ferrovias neste contexto Pelo fato do Brasil possuir um territ\u00f3rio muito extenso, a exist\u00eancia de uma infraestrutura de transportes \u00e9 um fator indispens\u00e1vel. Considerando que a maior parte dos fertilizantes utilizados no agroneg\u00f3cio brasileiro \u00e9 de proveni\u00eancia internacional, \u00e9 muito importante que a malha ferrovi\u00e1ria brasileira seja desenvolvida de modo que ela conecte as zonas produtoras do pa\u00eds \u00e0s zonas portu\u00e1rias. Atualmente, as principais portas de entrada de fertilizantes no pa\u00eds s\u00e3o os portos de Paranagu\u00e1 (PR), Rio Grande (RS) e Santos (SP). Em 2018, eles foram respons\u00e1veis por 64% das importa\u00e7\u00f5es dos produtos, o que totaliza mais de 16 milh\u00f5es de toneladas.&nbsp; Depois de entrarem no territ\u00f3rio brasileiro, os fertilizantes e adubos devem ser transportados para as regi\u00f5es de maior produ\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola do pa\u00eds. Apesar do transporte rodovi\u00e1rio ser o modal mais utilizado no Brasil, os recentes investimentos em novas ferrovias sugerem uma mudan\u00e7a iminente nesse cen\u00e1rio e podem otimizar muito o escoamento de produtos e fertilizantes.&nbsp; Por exemplo, no come\u00e7o de 2022, foi aprovada a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um novo trecho ferrovi\u00e1rio no estado do Mato Grosso. Conectando os munic\u00edpios de \u00c1gua Boa e Lucas do Rio Verde, o novo ramal de 557 km promete agilizar consideravelmente os processos log\u00edsticos de distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes, afetando positivamente a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de soja, milho e algod\u00e3o caracter\u00edstica do local. Outro projeto recente que contribuiu muito para a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes \u00e9 a nova estrutura de carregamento implantada pela empresa de log\u00edstica VLI. Esse novo sistema permite que os insumos desembarcados no Porto de Santos sejam transportados integralmente por ferrovias at\u00e9 o terminal de Uberaba (MG). Essa medida beneficiar\u00e1 o cultivo de produtos caracter\u00edsticos do Tri\u00e2ngulo Mineiro, como a cana de a\u00e7\u00facar, o caf\u00e9, a soja e a laranja. Conclus\u00e3o: produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes Foi poss\u00edvel perceber que os insumos agr\u00edcolas cumprem um papel muito importante no agroneg\u00f3cio brasileiro, que est\u00e1 em crescente expans\u00e3o. No entanto, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de fertilizantes brasileira n\u00e3o consegue acompanhar o crescimento do setor agropecu\u00e1rio, por isso, s\u00e3o cada vez mais necess\u00e1rios os investimentos na infraestrutura de transportes, como a constru\u00e7\u00e3o e moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o de ferrovias no pa\u00eds.
