The fact that this activity involves driving heavy wagons through urban areas requires compliance with some <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/medidas-de-seguranca-no-transporte-de-cargas\/\">safety measures<\/a>, such as, for example, the installation of railroad signaling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the joint use of signs, bells, horns, lights and other resources is an indispensable strategy to reduce the chances of accidents related to rail transport, including not only collisions between trains and wagons, but also accidents involving the population that lives near the railroads. This is the case of the signal lights, headlights and reflective panels installed on the locomotives, as a way of giving advance warning of their passage. Another example would be the strategic positioning of various information boards and traffic lights along the railroads, especially at intersections between rails and highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, acoustic signaling is one that uses sound elements. The main features of this type are the train bells and horns. While the bell is usually sounded for the entire journey, the horn is typically used only when the vehicle is approaching a crowded area or rail yard. Both have the same purpose: to warn of approaching trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is worth remembering that the individual implementation of one type or another is not enough for transport to be considered safe. That said, there are three types of signs, as far as their goals are concerned: regulatory, warning, and indication signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regulatory boards are used to emphasize certain safety standards and determine the conduct of train operators on specific sections of the railroads. For example, signs that tell you the speed limit on certain lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The warning signs are intended to warn drivers in advance of important events and circumstances, so that they can take the necessary measures and carry out more attentive transport. In addition to it, the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) issued, in 2015, the Railroad Service Instruction number 217 (ISF-217).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the document is to specifically define the characteristics of signaling resources related to railroad infrastructure. For example, the project determines that the signs must always be positioned to the right of the permanent ways, in a place that is easily visible to the operators. Currently, there are many digital resources that perform the same functions as railroad signaling, but more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the use of tracking technologies for locomotives and wagons is a very advantageous strategy to monitor the movement of vehicles in real time. This feature, together with a traffic supervision system, allows the creation of safer route schedules, always considering the location of other trains, avoiding delays and even collisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another very important advance that speeds up the solution of problems in rail transport is the use of integrated communication systems, providing direct contact between employees on the train and operators in the control center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the CBTC system, which in Portuguese stands for Communication Based Train Control, was a very advantageous addition to the railroad sector. In addition to monitoring the movement of the train, with data on the position, speed and load carried, the CBTC also allows the train to be driven from a distance. This is a very valuable measure, especially in situations where drivers, for some reason, are prevented from acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It was possible to perceive that the railroad signaling is an essential factor in the activities of the sector. Its main objective is to ensure that transport is carried out in the safest possible way, reducing the risk of accidents and fatalities linked to the stages of the process. Enquanto o sino geralmente fica soando por toda a viagem, a buzina costuma ser utilizada apenas quando o ve\u00edculo est\u00e1 se aproximando de uma \u00e1rea populosa ou do p\u00e1tio ferrovi\u00e1rio. Placas de sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o ferrovi\u00e1ria Uma das mais antigas medidas de seguran\u00e7a instaladas nas ferrovias \u00e9 a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de placas de sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o, como uma maneira de orientar condutores e operadores de trens. As placas de regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o utilizadas para salientar determinadas normas de seguran\u00e7a e determinar a conduta dos operadores de trem em trechos espec\u00edficos das ferrovias. Por exemplo, as placas que informam qual o limite de velocidade em determinadas linhas. J\u00e1 as placas de advert\u00eancia t\u00eam o prop\u00f3sito de avisar com anteced\u00eancia os condutores de acontecimentos e circunst\u00e2ncias importantes, para que eles possam tomar as provid\u00eancias necess\u00e1rias e realizar um transporte mais atento. Esse \u00e9 o caso das placas que informam a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de obras nas vias permanentes e nos seus arredores, por exemplo.\u00a0 Por fim, as placas de indica\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00e3o todas as outras que transmitem informa\u00e7\u00f5es capazes de auxiliar os condutores a cumprirem o seu trabalho de forma consciente e organizada como, por exemplo, aquelas que indicam o nome dos trechos ferrovi\u00e1rios e a quilometragem. Normas de seguran\u00e7a Assim como o transporte rodovi\u00e1rio, o setor ferrovi\u00e1rio \u00e9 contemplado por leis que buscam reduzir o risco de acidentes e, consequentemente, aprimorar a seguran\u00e7a das suas atividades. Por exemplo, o primeiro par\u00e1grafo do artigo 90 do C\u00f3digo de Tr\u00e2nsito Brasileiro (CTB) determina que a implanta\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos sinalizadores \u00e9 obriga\u00e7\u00e3o da entidade de tr\u00e2nsito com circunscri\u00e7\u00e3o do trecho, sendo que ela deve responder em casos de insufici\u00eancia e coloca\u00e7\u00e3o inadequada. O CTB n\u00e3o \u00e9 o \u00fanico documento legal que define as normas de sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o. Al\u00e9m dele, o Departamento Nacional de Infraestrutura de Transportes (DNIT) emitiu, em 2015, a Instru\u00e7\u00e3o de Servi\u00e7o Ferrovi\u00e1rio de n\u00famero 217 (ISF-217). Al\u00e9m disso, a ISF-217 tamb\u00e9m apresenta indica\u00e7\u00f5es sobre as fun\u00e7\u00f5es, as dimens\u00f5es, os conte\u00fados e outras especificidades t\u00e9cnicas da placa, como o material utilizado na fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o. \u00c9 importante lembrar que, no Brasil, o \u00f3rg\u00e3o respons\u00e1vel pela fiscaliza\u00e7\u00e3o das normas de sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o, assim como de todas as outras relacionadas ao transporte ferrovi\u00e1rio \u00e9 a Ag\u00eancia Nacional de Transportes Terrestres (ANTT). Solu\u00e7\u00f5es para a sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o ferrovi\u00e1ria \u00c9 poss\u00edvel notar que os avan\u00e7os tecnol\u00f3gicos t\u00eam influenciado v\u00e1rios setores da sociedade, e o transporte ferrovi\u00e1rio n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma exce\u00e7\u00e3o. Atualmente, existem muitos recursos digitais que exercem as mesmas fun\u00e7\u00f5es da sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o ferrovi\u00e1ria, por\u00e9m, de forma mais eficiente. Por exemplo, o uso de tecnologias de rastreamento de locomotivas e vag\u00f5es \u00e9 uma estrat\u00e9gia muito vantajosa para acompanhar em tempo real o deslocamento dos ve\u00edculos. Esse recurso, em conjunto com um sistema de supervis\u00e3o de tr\u00e1fego, permite a elabora\u00e7\u00e3o de cronogramas de rotas mais seguros, sempre considerando a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o de outros trens, evitando atrasos e, at\u00e9 mesmo, colis\u00f5es.\u00a0 Outro avan\u00e7o muito importante que agiliza a solu\u00e7\u00e3o de problemas no transporte ferrovi\u00e1rio \u00e9 a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de sistemas integrados de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o, disponibilizando o contato direto entre funcion\u00e1rios no trem e operadores no centro de controle. Para finalizar, o sistema CBTC, que, em portugu\u00eas, significa Controle de Trens Baseado em Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o, foi uma adi\u00e7\u00e3o muito vantajosa para o setor ferrovi\u00e1rio. Al\u00e9m de monitorar o movimento do trem, com dados sobre a posi\u00e7\u00e3o, velocidade e carga transportada, o CBTC tamb\u00e9m permite que o trem seja conduzido \u00e0 dist\u00e2ncia. Essa \u00e9 uma medida muito valiosa, principalmente, em situa\u00e7\u00f5es em que os condutores, por algum motivo, s\u00e3o impedidos de atuar. Conclus\u00e3o Foi poss\u00edvel perceber que a sinaliza\u00e7\u00e3o ferrovi\u00e1ria \u00e9 um fator imprescind\u00edvel nas atividades do setor.
