Even having the largest cattle herd in the country, with about 32.7 million animals in 2020, its main economic activity is the <strong>production and <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/como-evitar-perdas-no-transporte-de-graos\/\"><strong>grain export<\/strong><\/a>. This makes the Mato Grosso railroads one of the most important routes in Brazil's rail network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazilian <strong>Soy<\/strong> is what stands out the most. According to a census released by the IBGE, Mato Grosso still remains the Brazilian state that produces the most soybeans, reaching around 35 million tons, which was 28.8% of the national production of this grain in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The production of <strong>corn<\/strong> it is also fundamental to the state's economy. Its cultivation exceeds 33 million tons, placing Mato Grosso as the main producer of this grain in the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/moega-de-graos\/\">grains<\/a>, another plant that depends on its transportation through the Mato Grosso railroads is the <strong>cotton<\/strong>. In this case, the state is also the national leader in production, holding almost 70% of its total cultivation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expansion of the North Network and the Moto Grosso Railroads<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/red-cargo-wagons-and-train-on-railway-station-2021-08-26-17-00-55-utc-1.png\" alt=\"Discover the main railroads in Mato Grosso \" class=\"wp-image-3975\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/red-cargo-wagons-and-train-on-railway-station-2021-08-26-17-00-55-utc-1.png 500w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/red-cargo-wagons-and-train-on-railway-station-2021-08-26-17-00-55-utc-1-300x203.png 300w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/red-cargo-wagons-and-train-on-railway-station-2021-08-26-17-00-55-utc-1-370x250.png 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the state's economic scenario depends a lot on the means of transport to enable the export of products, some measures are being taken to optimize the Mato Grosso railroads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a way to boost the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/gestao-do-agronegocio\/\">agribusiness<\/a> in the state of Mato Grosso, Rumo Log\u00edstica closed a contract in September with the state government, guaranteeing the extension of Malha Norte. The project indicates that this railroad, which currently connects the Port of Santos (SP) to the municipality of Rondon\u00f3polis (MT), will expand in <strong>730 km<\/strong>, with an estimated investment of R$11 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Departing from Rondon\u00f3polis, the new tracks will be routed through two branches: <strong>one to the state capital, Cuiab\u00e1 (MT), and the other to Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), passing through Nova Mutum (MT)<\/strong>. The purpose of the extension is to connect one of the largest grain producing regions, which is the state of Mato Grosso, to one of the largest consumer centers, which is the Southeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expected date for the start of the works is until the beginning of 2023, and its conclusion is scheduled for sometime between 2028 and 2030. In addition, Rumo Log\u00edstica indicates that this extension of the Mato Grosso railroads will result in the emergence of <strong>230 thousand job vacancies<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This expansion draws attention in the midst of the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/infraestrutura-ferroviaria\/\">railroad sector<\/a> because of two news. In the first place, <strong>the construction of the new roads will follow an authorization regime<\/strong>. Prior to this contract, the execution of public railroad works was delegated to private companies through a concession agreement. In the case of authorization, all planning and construction will be the responsibility of the company, and the State will only be in charge of monitoring safety standards, which allows greater autonomy for the responsible company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another aspect that makes this project unprecedented is that this will be the <strong>first state railroad in Mato Grosso<\/strong>. The CEO of Rumo Log\u00edstica, Jo\u00e3o Alberto Abreu, says that, despite this, other railroad companies will be able to use the new routes for the <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/transporte-ferroviario-de-cargas\/\">cargo transport<\/a>, as long as they pay an amount known as the \u201cright of way\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ferrogr\u00e3o<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/train-2021-08-30-06-21-54-utc-1.png\" alt=\"Ferrogr\u00e3o\" class=\"wp-image-3976\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/train-2021-08-30-06-21-54-utc-1.png 500w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/train-2021-08-30-06-21-54-utc-1-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazilian <a href=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/en\/ferrovia-ferrograo\/\">Ferrogr\u00e3o<\/a>, or EF-170, is a Mato Grosso railroad construction project that, unlike the Malha Norte expansion, is administered by the federal government. This project began to be developed in 2016 as a way to reduce the logistical costs involved in grain transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, Ferrogr\u00e3o's plan was <strong>connect Mato Grosso and Par\u00e1<\/strong>, more specifically, to build terminals and railroads between Sinop (MT) and Porto Miritituba, located in the municipality of Itaituba (PA). Totalizing <strong>933 km long<\/strong> and costing around R$12 billion, the railroad section is intended to facilitate the flow of grain from the Center-West region to the port areas of Par\u00e1, promoting the logistics of the so-called Arco Norte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the construction of these railroads can reduce dependence on the road system to transport products between regions. Since road works are more invasive than railroads, this would also be a way to reduce environmental impacts on the Amazon biome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ferrogr\u00e3o concession project was filed in 2020, however, it found <strong>judicial obstacles<\/strong> and was suspended in March 2021. The main reason for the stoppage is that the construction of the new railroad was only approved because the limits of the Jamanxim National Park, in Par\u00e1, were changed through a Provisional Measure. Since this is a federal conservation area, the Minister of the STF, Alexandre de Moraes, suspended the measure, with the justification that this change can only occur through a bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ferrovia de Integra\u00e7\u00e3o do Centro-Oeste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the main Mato Grosso railroads is the Centro-Oeste Integration Railroad, also known as FICO. The project aims to promote the economic development of Brazil, especially that linked to the production and export of grains, such as soybeans, corn and beans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, FICO will <strong>connect the Mato Grosso railroads to the North-South Railroad and will also be part of the Transcontinental Railroad project<\/strong>, which proposes to connect the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, favoring maritime transport to Asia and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Altogether, the project plans to build about <strong>1500 km<\/strong> of tracks, and it will be divided into <strong>three stretches<\/strong>. The first, which started work in September 2021, connects the Mara Rosa (GO) terminal to the \u00c1gua Boa (MT) terminal: an extension of 383 km. The second stretch, of 505 km, will extend the railroad from \u00c1gua Boa to Lucas do Rio Verde (MT). The third, from Lucas do Rio Verde to Vilhena (RO), adds 646 km to the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R$2.7 billion was allocated to the works of the initial stretch, and its opening is scheduled for 2024. In addition, the project is estimated to generate around 4,600 jobs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclus\u00e3o sobre ferrovias Mato Grosso<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After understanding that Mato Grosso is one of the main states in the production of grains and other foods, the construction of new railroads that aim to optimize the flow of these products is fundamental for its economic development. Nesse caso, o estado tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 o l\u00edder nacional de produ\u00e7\u00e3o, detendo quase 70% do seu cultivo total no pa\u00eds. Amplia\u00e7\u00e3o da Malha Norte e as Ferrovias Moto Grosso Visto que o cen\u00e1rio econ\u00f4mico do estado depende muito dos meios de transporte para viabilizar a exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de produtos, algumas medidas est\u00e3o sendo tomadas para otimizar as ferrovias Mato Grosso. Como uma maneira de impulsionar o agroneg\u00f3cio no estado de Mato Grosso, a Rumo Log\u00edstica fechou um contrato em setembro com o governo do estado, garantindo a extens\u00e3o da Malha Norte. O projeto indica que esta ferrovia, que atualmente liga o Porto de Santos (SP) at\u00e9 o munic\u00edpio de Rondon\u00f3polis (MT), se ampliar\u00e1 em 730 km, com um investimento estimado em R $11 bilh\u00f5es. Partindo de Rondon\u00f3polis, os novos trilhos ser\u00e3o direcionados por dois ramais: um at\u00e9 a capital do estado, Cuiab\u00e1 (MT), e o outro at\u00e9 Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), passando por Nova Mutum (MT). O objetivo da extens\u00e3o \u00e9 conectar uma das maiores regi\u00f5es produtoras de gr\u00e3os, que \u00e9 o estado de Mato Grosso, at\u00e9 um dos maiores polos consumidores, que \u00e9 o Sudeste. A data esperada para o in\u00edcio das obras \u00e9 at\u00e9 o come\u00e7o de 2023, sendo que a sua conclus\u00e3o est\u00e1 prevista para algum momento entre 2028 e 2030. Al\u00e9m disso, a Rumo Log\u00edstica indica que essa extens\u00e3o das ferrovias Mato Grosso resultar\u00e1 no surgimento de 230 mil vagas de emprego.&nbsp; Essa amplia\u00e7\u00e3o chama a aten\u00e7\u00e3o em meio ao setor ferrovi\u00e1rio por causa de duas novidades. Em primeiro lugar, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o das novas vias seguir\u00e1 um regime de autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o. Antes deste contrato, a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de obras ferrovi\u00e1rias p\u00fablicas eram delegadas a empresas particulares atrav\u00e9s de um acordo de concess\u00e3o. J\u00e1 no caso da autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o, todo o planejamento e a constru\u00e7\u00e3o ser\u00e1 responsabilidade da empresa, sendo que o Estado apenas ficar\u00e1 encarregado de fiscalizar as normas de seguran\u00e7a, o que permite uma maior autonomia para a empresa respons\u00e1vel. Outro aspecto que torna este projeto in\u00e9dito \u00e9 que esta ser\u00e1 a primeira ferrovia estadual do Mato Grosso. O CEO da Rumo Log\u00edstica, Jo\u00e3o Alberto Abreu, afirma que, apesar disso, outras companhias ferrovi\u00e1rias poder\u00e3o utilizar as novas vias para o transporte de cargas, contanto que paguem um valor conhecido como \u201cdireito de passagem\u201d. Ferrogr\u00e3o A Ferrogr\u00e3o, ou EF-170, \u00e9 um projeto de constru\u00e7\u00e3o de ferrovias Mato Grosso que, diferentemente da amplia\u00e7\u00e3o da Malha Norte, \u00e9 administrado pelo governo federal. Totalizando 933 km de extens\u00e3o e custando cerca de R $12 bilh\u00f5es, o trecho ferrovi\u00e1rio tem o prop\u00f3sito de facilitar o escoamento de gr\u00e3os da regi\u00e3o Centro-Oeste at\u00e9 as zonas portu\u00e1rias do Par\u00e1, promovendo a log\u00edstica do chamado Arco Norte. Al\u00e9m disso, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o dessas ferrovias pode diminuir a depend\u00eancia no sistema rodovi\u00e1rio para o transporte de produtos entre as regi\u00f5es. Visto que as obras rodovi\u00e1rias s\u00e3o mais invasivas que as ferrovias, essa tamb\u00e9m seria uma forma de reduzir os impactos ambientais no bioma amaz\u00f4nico. O projeto de concess\u00e3o da Ferrogr\u00e3o foi protocolado em 2020, por\u00e9m, encontrou obst\u00e1culos judiciais e foi suspenso em mar\u00e7o de 2021. A principal raz\u00e3o para a paralisa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 que a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o da nova ferrovia s\u00f3 foi aprovada porque foram alterados os limites do Parque Nacional do Jamanxim, no Par\u00e1, atrav\u00e9s de uma Medida Provis\u00f3ria. J\u00e1 que essa \u00e9 uma \u00e1rea de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o federal, o ministro do STF, Alexandre de Moraes, suspendeu a medida, com a justificativa de que essa altera\u00e7\u00e3o s\u00f3 pode ocorrer mediante a um projeto de lei. Ferrovia de Integra\u00e7\u00e3o do Centro-Oeste Entre as principais ferrovias Mato Grosso est\u00e1 a Ferrovia de Integra\u00e7\u00e3o do Centro-Oeste, tamb\u00e9m conhecida como FICO. O projeto tem o intuito de promover o desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico do Brasil, principalmente aquele ligado \u00e0 produ\u00e7\u00e3o e exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de gr\u00e3os, como a soja, o milho e o feij\u00e3o. Al\u00e9m disso, a FICO ir\u00e1 interligar as ferrovias Mato Grosso \u00e0 Ferrovia Norte-Sul e tamb\u00e9m far\u00e1 parte do projeto da Ferrovia Transcontinental, que prop\u00f5e conectar o Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico ao Oceano Pac\u00edfico, favorecendo o transporte mar\u00edtimo para a \u00c1sia e o Oriente M\u00e9dio. Ao todo, o projeto planeja a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de cerca de 1500 km de trilhos, sendo que ela ser\u00e1 dividida em tr\u00eas trechos.
