From then on, the main existing railroads became concessions from private companies, through auctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the projects created by the current government, even in the 1980s, was the Transnordestina railroad, which aimed to improve the exploitation of resources in the states of the Northeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the construction of this railroad, it would be easier to transport inputs to the country's important ports, passing through several northeastern states, such as Piau\u00ed, Pernambuco and Cear\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time, the project was less ambitious, with a projected construction of only 3 railroad sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like other railroad projects and also networks that already existed, the railroad network in the Northeast is part of the privatization project, in 1997.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this way, the Transnordestina Railroad was granted a concession for the private sector, acquired by the former Companhia Ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste S\/A (CFN), which currently receives the name of Ferrovia Transnordestina Log\u00edstica (FTL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As its name already indicates, Ferrovia Transnordestina was to be the flagship of this important company in the logistics sector, which invests a lot of resources in the growth of the railroad sector in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the project took a while to get off the ground. After this privatization process, several plans and studies had to be developed by the FTL in the early 2000s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, the Transnordestina railroad only began to be built in 2006, with a projection that could reach 1753 km in length, with the idea of \u200b\u200bconnecting the Port of Pec\u00e9m, in Cear\u00e1, to the Port of Suape, in Pernambuco, also passing through the cerrado of Piau\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project for the construction of the Transnordestina railroad had an initial budget estimated at around 5 billion reais, part of which would be paid by government funds for railroad investment and the other part taken from the FTL fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How is it currently?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"775\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image2-1.png\" alt=\"How is it currently?\" class=\"wp-image-3264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image2-1.png 775w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image2-1-300x253.png 300w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image2-1-768x647.png 768w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image2-1-500x421.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 775px) 100vw, 775px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it was designed to be the main railroad network in the Northeast, as it would encompass 3 of the most important states for the region's economy, with Cear\u00e1 and Pernambuco being the 2nd and 3rd most populous, the Transnordestina railroad has not yet been completed, and suffers from delays in completing the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial projection was that, from the beginning of the works, in 2006, the entire route of the Transnordestina railroad would be completed by 2016, 10 years after the beginning of the construction of the railroad line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, until this period, the data indicated that only 52% of the works were completed, totaling 600 km in length. At the same time, the section that had already been built did not have much of a function, as the work needed to be completed for the line to follow the projected path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After this year, the works were paralyzed for more than 3 years, as the Federal Court of Accounts vetoed the use of public resources to continue investing in the work, precisely because of the budget that had been made in the construction and that did not obtain the projected results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, at the end of 2020, the works of the Transnordestina railroad were resumed. For it to be completed, it is estimated that an investment of more than 5 billion will be necessary, almost doubling the budget of the initial projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charge transport<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"767\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-1024x767.jpg\" alt=\"Charge transport\" class=\"wp-image-3256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-1024x767.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-1536x1151.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image3.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial idea was that the Transnordestina railroad would become one of the main railroads in the transport of agricultural inputs, such as grains and ores, to the ports in the Northeast region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FTL, for example, which is the company that manages the entire railroad in the Northeast, after obtaining the Northeast Network of the former Rede Ferrovi\u00e1ria Federal SA, which was privatized in 1997, is responsible for the transport of more than 2 million tons of cargo, mainly cellulose, cement and fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, these inputs are transported by the company's other railroads and in the northeast region, as currently, the Transnordestina railroad's cargo transport consists only of elements to help in the continuation of the line's work, such as crushed stone, to help with mounting of the track rails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Importance of the Transnordestina railroad<\/strong> da Ferrovia Transnordestina<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Import\u00e2ncia da Ferrovia Transnordestina\" class=\"wp-image-3257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-1170x780.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4-500x333.jpg 500w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/image4.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Transnordestina railroad was designed to be the main railroad line in the northeast region, as it would help in the exploration of important resources for the economy of the northeastern states, mainly agriculture and mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the future, it would still be an important way of interconnecting with other railroads, helping to transport production from the state to other regions of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, due to the delays that occurred in the construction of the Transnordestina railroad, which was only resumed 4 years after the year in which it should have been completed, it is still not possible to identify all the potential that the line may have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, now that the work has resumed, there is a certain expectation by the people who were most involved to make this possible, understanding that future plans for the Transnordestina Railroad network may also become a great exponent of the rail transport modal of cargo from the region and the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This expectation is generated because several works in the railroad sector were resumed, and are still under construction, such as FIOL and Ferrogr\u00e3o, important railroads in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We can conclude from the article that, despite its importance for the exploration of mineral and agricultural resources in the northeast region, many expectations were frustrated during this process. The Transnordestina Railroad, which would be FTL's flagship, already has considerable delays in the work. Na d\u00e9cada de 90, vendo que o setor ferrovi\u00e1rio estava precarizado e precisava de investimentos para crescer, o governo incluiu esse modal no plano de privatiza\u00e7\u00f5es. A partir da\u00ed, as principais vias ferrovi\u00e1rias existentes viraram concess\u00f5es de empresas privadas, mediante leil\u00f5es. Um dos projetos criados pelo governo vigente, ainda na d\u00e9cada de 80, era o da Ferrovia Transnordestina, que visava melhorar a explora\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos nos estados do Nordeste. Com a constru\u00e7\u00e3o dessa ferrovia, seria mais f\u00e1cil transportar insumos para os portos importantes do pa\u00eds, passando por diversos estados do nordeste, como Piau\u00ed, Pernambuco e Cear\u00e1. Na \u00e9poca, o projeto era menos ambicioso, com proje\u00e7\u00e3o de constru\u00e7\u00e3o de apenas 3 trechos ferrovi\u00e1rios. Assim como outros projetos de ferrovias e tamb\u00e9m malhas que j\u00e1 existiam, a malha ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste se enquadra no projeto de privatiza\u00e7\u00e3o, em 1997.&nbsp; Dessa maneira, a Ferrovia Transnordestina foi concessionada para a iniciativa privada, adquirida pela antiga Companhia Ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste S\/A (CFN), que atualmente recebe o nome de Ferrovia Transnordestina Log\u00edstica (FTL). Como o pr\u00f3prio nome j\u00e1 indica, a Ferrovia Transnordestina era para ser o carro chefe dessa importante empresa do ramo de log\u00edstica, que investe bastante recursos no crescimento do setor ferrovi\u00e1rio no pa\u00eds. Entretanto, o projeto demorou a sair do papel. Depois desse processo de privatiza\u00e7\u00e3o, diversos planos e estudos tiveram que ser desenvolvidos pela FTL, no come\u00e7o da d\u00e9cada de 2000.&nbsp; Dessa maneira, a Ferrovia Transnordestina s\u00f3 come\u00e7ou a ser constru\u00edda em 2006, com uma proje\u00e7\u00e3o que poderia chegar at\u00e9 1753 km de extens\u00e3o, com a ideia de interligar o&nbsp; Porto de Pec\u00e9m, no Cear\u00e1, ao Porto de Suape, em Pernambuco, passando tamb\u00e9m pelo cerrado do Piau\u00ed. O projeto da constru\u00e7\u00e3o da Ferrovia Transnordestina tinha um or\u00e7amento inicial previsto na casa dos 5 bilh\u00f5es de reais, sendo que uma parte seria pago pelos fundos governamentais de investimento ferrovi\u00e1rio e a outra parte retirada da caixa da FTL. Como ela est\u00e1 atualmente? Apesar de ter sido projetada para ser a principal malha ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste, j\u00e1 que englobaria 3 dos estados mais importantes para economia da regi\u00e3o, sendo Cear\u00e1 e Pernambuco o 2\u00b0 e o 3\u00b0 mais populosos, a Ferrovia Transnordestina ainda n\u00e3o foi finalizada, e sofre com atrasos para a finaliza\u00e7\u00e3o da obra. A proje\u00e7\u00e3o inicial era que, a partir do in\u00edcio das obras, em 2006, todo o trajeto da Ferrovia Transnordestina fosse finalizado at\u00e9 2016, 10 anos ap\u00f3s o come\u00e7o da constru\u00e7\u00e3o da linha ferrovi\u00e1ria. Entretanto, at\u00e9 esse per\u00edodo, os dados apontavam que apenas 52% das obras estavam conclu\u00eddas, totalizando 600 km de extens\u00e3o. Ao mesmo tempo, o trecho que j\u00e1 havia sido constru\u00eddo n\u00e3o tinha muita fun\u00e7\u00e3o, j\u00e1 que era necess\u00e1rio a conclus\u00e3o da obra para que a linha fizesse o trajeto projetado. Ap\u00f3s esse ano, as obras ficaram mais de 3 anos paralisadas, pois o Tribunal de Contas da Uni\u00e3o vetou a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos p\u00fablicos para continuar investindo na obra, justamente por conta do or\u00e7amento que havia sido feito na constru\u00e7\u00e3o e que n\u00e3o obteve os resultados projetados. Apesar disso, no final de 2020, as obras da Ferrovia Transnordestina foram retomadas. Para que ela seja conclu\u00edda, estima-se que ser\u00e1 necess\u00e1rio o investimento de mais de 5 bilh\u00f5es, quase que dobrando o or\u00e7amento da proje\u00e7\u00e3o inicial. Transporte de cargas A ideia inicial, era que a Ferrovia Transnordestina se tornasse uma das principais ferrovias no transporte de insumos agr\u00edcolas, como gr\u00e3os e min\u00e9rios para os portos da regi\u00e3o do Nordeste. A FTL, por exemplo, que \u00e9 a empresa que administra toda a via ferrovi\u00e1ria do Nordeste, depois de conseguir a Malha Nordeste da antiga Rede Ferrovi\u00e1ria Federal S.A. que foi privatizada em 1997, \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel pelo transporte de mais de 2 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de cargas, principalmente celulose, cimento e combust\u00edveis. Infelizmente, esses insumos s\u00e3o transportados pelas outras ferrovias da empresa e da regi\u00e3o do nordeste, visto que, atualmente, o transporte de cargas da Ferrovia Transnordestina consiste apenas em elementos para ajudar na continua\u00e7\u00e3o da obra da linha, como a pedra brita, para ajudar na montagem dos trilhos da via. Import\u00e2ncia da Ferrovia Transnordestina A Ferrovia Transnordestina foi projetada para ser a principal linha ferrovi\u00e1ria da regi\u00e3o nordeste, visto que ajudaria na explora\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos importantes para a economia dos estados nordestinos, principalmente a agricultura e a minera\u00e7\u00e3o. Futuramente, ainda seria uma importante via para interliga\u00e7\u00e3o com outras ferrovias, ajudando no escoamento da produ\u00e7\u00e3o do estado para outras regi\u00f5es do pa\u00eds. Entretanto, por conta dos atrasos que ocorreram na constru\u00e7\u00e3o da Ferrovia Transnordestina, que s\u00f3 foi retomada 4 anos ap\u00f3s o ano em que ela deveria ter sido finalizada, ainda n\u00e3o \u00e9 poss\u00edvel identificar todo o potencial que a linha pode possuir. Apesar disso, agora que a obra foi retomada, existe uma certa expectativa pelas pessoas que mais se envolveram para que isso fosse poss\u00edvel, compreendendo que os planos futuros para a malha Ferrovi\u00e1ria Transnordestina possa, ainda, se tornar um grande expoente do modal ferrovi\u00e1rio de transporte de cargas da regi\u00e3o e do pa\u00eds. Essa expectativa \u00e9 gerada porque diversas obras do setor ferrovi\u00e1rio foram retomadas, e seguem em projeto de constru\u00e7\u00e3o, como a FIOL e a Ferrogr\u00e3o, importantes ferrovias do Brasil.
