In 2019, agribusiness represented about 21.4% of the national GDP, and the percentage may increase in the coming years. Aiming at this increase, it is essential that grain transportation be carried out with more and more logistics and infrastructure quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main grains that are transported by agribusiness are: soybeans, corn, wheat and other types of cereals. For this transport, two modes are essential: the road and the rail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both transport sectors have an essential participation in cargo transportation in the country, enabling the flow of products to the domestic market and also to ports, allowing export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adding all the activities, the estimate elaborated by the National Transport Confederation is that 61% of the loads are transported by the highways, while around 21% by the railroads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking specifically of agribusiness and grain transport, railroads have a slightly larger share: 30% of cargo transported, while highways occupy around 60% and other modes belong to the remaining 10%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This greater division is important for several reasons: transportation logistics, cost reduction, faster travel and, mainly, reduction of grain loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any productive sector wants to avoid all kinds of losses, and in agribusiness this is no different. Therefore, avoiding the loss of grains during the transportation of these items is very important. But, why and how does it occur? This factor is decisive when we consider that highways still predominate in the transportation of cargo in Brazil, including the commodities transported from agribusiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this transport by road, that is, by trucks, several important logistical problems result in the loss of grain during the journey to, mainly, the national ports. Grains are usually stored in silos, which are the most suitable structures for this type of action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still in the production and reception of the main grains, such as corn, soybeans and wheat, some harmful agents can end up causing serious damage to these foods, making it necessary to dispose of them. Among these agents, insect pests, fungi, mycotoxins and pesticide residues are the main ones.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, when there is a grain crop contaminated with these types of agents, they can harm other crops if they are stored in close spaces. And that happens for several reasons, which we will explain below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a transport modal to work properly, the logistics of the operating companies must be as organized as possible. Unfortunately, this logistics is still hampered by some issues, especially when we talk about the road sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the National Department of Transport Infrastructure, Brazil has about 1.7 million km of highways, but just over 220 thousand km is paved, representing 13% of the total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lack of paving is one of the main problems when transporting grains along highways, which continue to be the main means of transport for agribusiness. With bumpy roads and highways, with severe structural problems, the truck ends up suffering with difficulties during the trips, swinging a lot and, consequently, causing many grains to be dropped on the way.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel time is also a determining factor for grain loss. As trucks often do not provide the best type of storage while traveling, mainly keeping grains at the proper temperatures, the time they are trapped in vehicles can be harmful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is also a relevant aspect for the logistics of the companies, as it is essential to find solutions so that the trips last as long as the items are not harmed during the transportation of grains, causing the loss of grains in large proportions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Agroindustrial Logistics Research and Extension Group of the Luiz de Queiroz School of Agriculture (Esalq), about 13.3% of all grain loss occurs in the road sector, a number that represents well the structural problems that the sector lives during grain transportation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report by Grupo Globo's Globo Rural program, farmers lose, on average, between 800 thousand and 1 billion Reais with the loss during grain transportation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the most practical and reasonable solutions to prevent this large amount of losses from occurring, is the elaboration of more efficient logistical plans, improving the conditions of the highways, making interconnections with other modes of transport to reduce travel time and qualify storage of products so that they are not harmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Problems with weighing during grain transport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"870\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasted-image-0-39-1.png\" alt=\"Problems with weighing during grain transport\" class=\"wp-image-3077\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasted-image-0-39-1.png 870w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasted-image-0-39-1-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasted-image-0-39-1-768x441.png 768w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasted-image-0-39-1-500x287.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As in the road sector, the railroad modal also suffers with some losses during the grain transportation processes, and they can occur due to an imprecise weighing of the wagons, providing a load that stands out from the bearable, generating the loss during some procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This inadequate weighing happens, essentially, when the line has a static scale, which can only carry out the weighing with the trains stopped. Mas, por que e como isso ocorre? \u00c9 o que falaremos mais aprofundadamente ao longo do texto, ent\u00e3o fique conosco e confira! Perda de gr\u00e3os transportados Bom, acho que o termo em espec\u00edfico j\u00e1 deixa claro o que estamos falando, que \u00e9 a perda de gr\u00e3os durante o transporte desses itens para os locais previamente planejados. S\u00e3o v\u00e1rios motivos que levam isso a acontecer, e passaremos a limpo diversos desses problemas e apontaremos solu\u00e7\u00f5es que podem ser utilizadas para evitar que isso aconte\u00e7a durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os. Disparidade entre os setores Problemas log\u00edsticos s\u00e3o um dos principais fatores da perda de insumos durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os. A seguir, falaremos os principais aspectos log\u00edsticos que atrapalham os processos de transporte de gr\u00e3os sem que aconte\u00e7a perdas significativas Armazenamento inadequado durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os A perda dos gr\u00e3os pode acontecer por conta de uma log\u00edstica de armazenamento mal feita. Os gr\u00e3os normalmente s\u00e3o armazenados em silos, que s\u00e3o as estruturas mais adequadas para esse tipo de a\u00e7\u00e3o.&nbsp; Ainda na produ\u00e7\u00e3o e no acolhimento dos principais gr\u00e3os, como o milho, a soja e o trigo, alguns agentes prejudiciais podem acabar causando s\u00e9rios danos a esses alimentos, tornando necess\u00e1rio o descarte. Entre esses agentes, insetos-pragas, fungos, micotoxinas e res\u00edduos de agrot\u00f3xicos s\u00e3o os principais.&nbsp; Dessa forma, quando h\u00e1 uma safra de gr\u00e3os contaminada com esses tipos de agentes, elas podem prejudicar outras safras se forem armazenadas em espa\u00e7os pr\u00f3ximos. Por isso, existe uma s\u00e9rie de recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es feita por especialistas para amenizar ou evitar esse tipo de problema, tanto durante a colheita, como na p\u00f3s-colheita e no armazenamento, tais como: Separar safras novas de antigas; Limpeza do gr\u00e3o antes do armazenamento; Impermeabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de estruturas como pisos, paredes e telhados; Aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de inseticidas nos espa\u00e7os de armazenamento; Armazenar o produto com o teor de umidade em torno de 13% Trajeto Outra etapa que ocorre uma boa parte da porcentagem de perda de commodities agr\u00edcolas, \u00e9 durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os. E isso acontece por diversas raz\u00f5es, que explicaremos na sequ\u00eancia. Para que um modal de transporte funcione da maneira adequada, a log\u00edstica das empresas operantes deve ser a mais organizada poss\u00edvel. Infelizmente, essa log\u00edstica ainda \u00e9 prejudicada por algumas quest\u00f5es, principalmente quando falamos do setor rodovi\u00e1rio. De acordo com o Departamento Nacional de Infraestrutura de Transportes, o Brasil possui cerca de 1,7 milh\u00f5es de km de rodovias, mas apenas pouco mais de 220 mil km \u00e9 pavimentado, representando 13% do total. Como os caminh\u00f5es, muitas vezes, n\u00e3o proporcionam o melhor tipo de armazenamento durante as viagens, n\u00e3o mantendo, principalmente, os gr\u00e3os nas temperaturas adequadas, o tempo em que eles ficam presos nos ve\u00edculos podem ser prejudiciais. Esse tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 um aspecto relevante para a log\u00edstica das empresas, pois \u00e9 imprescind\u00edvel encontrar solu\u00e7\u00f5es para que as viagens durem o necess\u00e1rio para que os itens n\u00e3o sejam prejudicados durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os, ocasionando a perda de gr\u00e3os em grandes propor\u00e7\u00f5es.&nbsp; De acordo com o Grupo de Pesquisa e Extens\u00e3o de Log\u00edstica Agroindustrial da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (Esalq), cerca de 13,3 % de toda a perda de gr\u00e3os acontece no setor rodovi\u00e1rio, n\u00famero que representa bem os problemas estruturais que o setor vive durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os.&nbsp; Segundo uma reportagem do programa Globo Rural, do Grupo Globo, os agricultores perdem, em m\u00e9dia, um valor entre 800 mil e 1 bilh\u00e3o de reais com a perda durante o transporte de gr\u00e3os.&nbsp; Portanto, as solu\u00e7\u00f5es mais pr\u00e1ticas e cab\u00edveis para evitar que essa grande quantidade de perdas aconte\u00e7a, \u00e9 a elabora\u00e7\u00e3o de planos log\u00edsticos mais eficientes, melhorar as condi\u00e7\u00f5es das rodovias, fazer interliga\u00e7\u00f5es com outros modais de transporte para diminuir o tempo de viagem e qualificar o armazenamento dos produtos para que eles n\u00e3o sejam prejudicados.
