It is through the railroad lines that the possibilities for transporting cargo and people are increased. Here in Brazil, for example, there is a high range of railroads, essential for supplying items in cities and ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the national railroads, which cover only the country, there are places that contain railroads that cross the borders or oceans barrier. These railroads are called transcontinental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The precursor of these molds was the First Transcontinental Railroad, thus called the American railroad that connected the coasts of two oceans: the Atlantic and the Pacific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Latin America, the construction of the EF-354, a transcontinental railroad that will connect the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, on the Brazilian coast, to the Pacific Ocean, in Peru, is currently being planned. This project is being developed by both governments and will be a railroad landmark for the southern part of the American continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction of the transcontinental railroad is one of the main plans of the Brazilian government, aiming at a greater connection with the import and export to countries like China, a strong partner in this undertaking, since the extension of the railroad would reach the Pacific Ocean and, therefore, would supply easier access to Asian fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government forecast a few years ago is that investments would be made in the 40 billion, with projection for the beginning of construction in 2022. But, there is still no concrete basis for this period, since there was an exchange in the government and, therefore, it is up to the new chief executive to continue the projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding the extension of the line, the transcontinental railroad should be around 4,500 km long, covering a good part of the Brazilian territory, such as Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Goi\u00e1s, Roraima, Acre, and reaching up to the neighboring country, Peru.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The focus of our article is to address the progress of this work, how it is divided, the investors behind the constructions, the controversies, the concessions and much more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Line splitting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"871\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1-871x1024.png\" alt=\"Line splitting\" class=\"wp-image-2584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1-871x1024.png 871w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1-255x300.png 255w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1-768x903.png 768w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1-500x588.png 500w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-15-1.png 970w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 871px) 100vw, 871px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The transcontinental railroad will be divided into three main points here in Brazilian territory. There are three lines licensed to the company VALEC Engenharia, Constru\u00e7\u00f5es e Ferrovias S \/ A. The parts indicated are the North-South railroad, the Midwest Integration Railroad (FICO) and the section that will find the border with Peru.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the importance that these sections will have for the transcontinental railroad, they will also be fundamental for the increase of cargo transportation in Brazilian networks, since they will assist in the flow of products in several regions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"230\" src=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-14-1.png\" alt=\"FICO\" class=\"wp-image-2583\" srcset=\"https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-14-1.png 400w, https:\/\/massa.ind.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pasted-image-0-14-1-300x173.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Fico is a railroad under study that will be around 1600 km long. According to the Investment Partnership Program (PPI), the network that will connect Goi\u00e1s to the state of Rond\u00f4nia has an expected CAPEX investment of R $ 2.730 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The North-South railroad is part of the Brazilian railroad network and, as the name implies, extends from the north of the country to the southern part. It is over 1500 km long and was designed to be the main railroad in Brazil, as it is a railroad that connects with several others. It has a lot of importance in the projection of the transcontinental railroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this way, in addition to being part of the new transcontinental railroad, the sections of the route have great relevance for connecting the national railroad networks. This line would reach the ocean ports more easily, facilitating export and import to that country and also to Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In mid-2015, when the country was governed by then President Dilma Rousseff, there were meetings with some Chinese government officials, among them the country's prime minister. The interest of the Asian country in the construction of this railroad was mainly in the project of economic expansion, which aimed to increase the procurement of raw materials in South America.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, Switzerland emerged as interested in the construction of the transcontinental railroad. One of these regions is the Amazon Forest, the main environmental area in the entire American continent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this passage, many controversies arose around the transcontinental railroad, as it is an important environmental area in Brazil. Experts pointed out that the construction would be very harmful to the indigenous peoples that inhabit this region and also that there would be serious environmental impacts in the area. Paulo Adario, director of the Amazon Campaign at Greenpeace, spoke out at the time against the installation of the transcontinental railroad, pointing out that the negative impacts of this construction in the Amazon region could not be avoided.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We could see throughout the article that the transcontinental railroad is still surrounded by controversies, since it is a railroad that involves a number of countries and, consequently, a lot of bureaucracy. J\u00e1 na Am\u00e9rica Latina, est\u00e1 em projeto, nos dias atuais, a constru\u00e7\u00e3o da EF-354, uma ferrovia transcontinental que ligar\u00e1 a costa do Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico, no litoral brasileiro, ao Oceano Pac\u00edfico, no Peru. Esse projeto est\u00e1 sendo elaborado por ambos os governos e ser\u00e1 um marco ferrovi\u00e1rio para a parte sulista do continente americano. A constru\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia transcontinental \u00e9 um dos principais planos do governos brasileiro, visando uma maior conex\u00e3o com a importa\u00e7\u00e3o e exporta\u00e7\u00e3o para pa\u00edses como a China, forte parceira nesse empreendimento, j\u00e1 que a extens\u00e3o da ferrovia chegaria at\u00e9 o Oceano Pac\u00edfico e, portanto, forneceria mais facilidade de acesso aos campos asi\u00e1ticos. A previs\u00e3o do governo h\u00e1 alguns anos \u00e9 de que seriam feitos investimentos na casa dos 40 bilh\u00f5es, com proje\u00e7\u00e3o para in\u00edcio da constru\u00e7\u00e3o em 2022. Mas, ainda n\u00e3o h\u00e1 uma base concreta em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a esse per\u00edodo, j\u00e1 que houve troca no governo e, por isso, cabe ao novo chefe do poder executivo dar continuidade \u00e0 proje\u00e7\u00e3o. Em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 extens\u00e3o da linha, a ferrovia transcontinental dever\u00e1 ter em torno de 4,5 mil km de extens\u00e3o, abrangendo boa parte do territ\u00f3rio brasileiro, como Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Goi\u00e1s, Roraima, Acre, e chegando at\u00e9 o pa\u00eds vizinho, o Peru.&nbsp; O foco do nosso artigo \u00e9 abordar o andamento dessa obra, como ela \u00e9 dividida, os investidores por tr\u00e1s das constru\u00e7\u00f5es, as pol\u00eamicas, as concess\u00f5es e muito mais.&nbsp; Divis\u00e3o da linha A ferrovia transcontinental ser\u00e1 divida em tr\u00eas pontos principais aqui no territ\u00f3rio brasileiro. S\u00e3o tr\u00eas linhas concessionadas para a empresa VALEC Engenharia, Constru\u00e7\u00f5es e Ferrovias S\/A. As partes apontadas s\u00e3o as ferrovias Norte-Sul, Ferrovia de Integra\u00e7\u00e3o do Centro-Oeste (FICO) e o trecho que encontrar\u00e1 a fronteira com o Peru.&nbsp; Al\u00e9m da import\u00e2ncia que esses trechos ter\u00e3o para a ferrovia transcontinental, eles tamb\u00e9m ser\u00e3o fundamentais para o aumento do transporte de cargas nas malhas brasileiras, ja que auxiliar\u00e3o no escoamento de produtos em diversas regi\u00f5es.&nbsp; A Fico \u00e9 uma ferrovia em fase de estudos que ter\u00e1 em torno de 1600 km de extens\u00e3o. De acordo com o Programa de Parcerias de Investimentos (PPI), a malha que ligar\u00e1 Goi\u00e1s at\u00e9 o estado de Rond\u00f4nia tem um investimento previsto do CAPEX de R$ 2,730 bilh\u00f5es. A Ferrovia Norte-Sul faz parte da malha ferrovi\u00e1ria brasileira e como o pr\u00f3prio nome j\u00e1 diz, tem sua extens\u00e3o desde o norte do pa\u00eds e chega at\u00e9 a parte sulista. Tem mais de 1500 km de extens\u00e3o e foi projetada para ser a principal ferrovia do Brasil, j\u00e1 que \u00e9 uma ferrovia que se conecta com diversas outras. Ela tem muita import\u00e2ncia na proje\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia transcontinental. Desta forma, al\u00e9m de fazer parte da nova ferrovia transcontinental, os trechos do trajeto t\u00eam grande relev\u00e2ncia para conectar as malhas ferrovi\u00e1rias nacionais. A proje\u00e7\u00e3o da Ferrovia Norte-Sul, por exemplo, \u00e9 de que at\u00e9 2050 sejam movimentadas 22 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de cargas pesadas, segundo dados da PPI do governo.&nbsp; Investimentos estrangeiros da Ferrovia Transcontinental Como a ferrovia transcontinental \u00e9 uma malha que tem como objetivo o largo abastecimento de pa\u00edses estrangeiros, logo foram surgindo interessados para investir pesado na constru\u00e7\u00e3o da via, e essa interesse acabou criando uma forte pol\u00eamica acerca da obra. Um entre os principais pa\u00edses seduzidos pela ferrovia transcontinental foi a China, que \u00e9 um dos destinos da exporta\u00e7\u00e3o brasileira. Essa linha chegaria com maior facilidade aos portos oce\u00e2nicos, facilitando a exporta\u00e7\u00e3o e importa\u00e7\u00e3o para esse pa\u00eds \u00e9, tamb\u00e9m, tamb\u00e9m para a Su\u00ed\u00e7a. Em meados de 2015, quando o pa\u00eds era governada pela ent\u00e3o presidente Dilma Rousseff, houve encontros com alguns governantes chineses, dentre eles o primeiro ministro do pa\u00eds. O interesse do pa\u00eds asi\u00e1tico na constru\u00e7\u00e3o dessa ferrovia se deu principalmente no projeto de expans\u00e3o econ\u00f4mica, que visava aumentar a obten\u00e7\u00e3o de mat\u00e9rias primas na Am\u00e9rica do Sul.&nbsp; Em 2017, a Su\u00ed\u00e7a surgiu como interessada na constru\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia transcontinental. Os governantes assinaram acordos com o ent\u00e3o presidente da Bol\u00edvia, Evo Morales, tratando sobre aspectos acerca dos investimentos que seriam feitos com aparato t\u00e9cnico e estrat\u00e9gico.&nbsp; Pol\u00eamicas acerca da constru\u00e7\u00e3o da Ferrovia Transcontinental Como a ferrovia transcontinental tem em seu projeto uma ambiciosa quilometragem que abranger\u00e1&nbsp; desde o porto de Santos at\u00e9 a costa Peruana, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio que a linha passe por diversas cidade e regi\u00f5es. Uma dessas regi\u00f5es \u00e9 a Floresta Amaz\u00f4nica, principal \u00e1rea ambiental de todo o continente americano.&nbsp; Por conta dessa passagem, muitas pol\u00eamicas surgiram em torno da ferrovia transcontinental, j\u00e1 que \u00e9 uma importante \u00e1rea ambiental do Brasil. Especialistas apontaram que a constru\u00e7\u00e3o seria muito prejudicial aos povos ind\u00edgenas que habitam essa regi\u00e3o e tamb\u00e9m que haveria s\u00e9rios impactos ambientais na \u00e1rea. Paulo Adario, diretor da Campanha Amaz\u00f4nia, do Greenpeace, se manifestou prontamente \u00e0 \u00e9poca contra a instala\u00e7\u00e3o da ferrovia transcontinental, apontando que os impactos negativos dessa constru\u00e7\u00e3o na regi\u00e3o amaz\u00f4nica n\u00e3o poderiam ser evitados.&nbsp; Conclus\u00e3o Pudemos perceber ao longo do artigo que a ferrovia transcontinental ainda est\u00e1 cercada de controv\u00e9rsias, j\u00e1 que \u00e9 uma ferrovia que envolve uma s\u00e9rie de pa\u00edses e, consequentemente, muita burocracia.
